I hope you all are bored enough of this self quarantine and lockdown, so as things are starting to get normal let us just plan a tour for our upcoming frozen adventure to SIKKIM or as Tibetans like to call it "Drengjong". Let me plan you just a perfect tour for visiting Sikkim with your friends or family. First of all let me give you all a glimpse of the place you are about to visit.



   So as you guys just saw the image of how beautiful Sikkim is let me just tell you this is just the trailer , 
"Picture to abhi baki hain mere dost".

Places to Visit in Sikkim:

Sikkim is divided into four districts, which are 

  • East Sikkim
  • North Sikkim
  • West Sikkim
  • South Sikkim
In this blog I mainly will be writing about North Sikkim. Enjoy 


If you never visited any Indian mountainous region then you should get a headstart from the Bengalee's one and only Darjeeling but if you have visited any mountain it will be a pleasant tour for you.
    
    When we first hear the word SIKKIM what comes to our mind is Tibetan food and Gangtok. In the map you can see it falls in the East district and is the capital of the state so the first place in our list is GANGTOK.

Gangtok:

So Gangtok is the main center of the state because wherever you wanna go usually you start from Gangtok.

Places to visit in Gangtok(Sightseeing):

  • Tsongmo lake: It is situated about 16 km from the main city of Gangtok but is a must watch.

  • MG market: MG market is the heart of Gangtok with a serene beauty of hotels, restaurants,bars and a lot of light and colour.


  • Rumtek monastery: Rumtek monastery id said to be the most sacred place and is about 24 km away from Gangtok and also is a must visit.


  • Mangan: The town of Mangan is 3 hours away from the main city Gangtok and is a tourist attraction for its trekking and hiking.


  • Himalayan Zoological Park: It is about 3 km away from Gangtok but its diverse ecosystem and you get a great view of Kanchenjunga from here.


Other places are Ganesh Tok, Seven Sisters waterfalls, 
Do Drul Chorten,Hanuman Tok, Saramsa Garden, ropeway , Banjhakri Falls, Tsuk La Khang etc.

Pelling:

  • Pemayangste Monastery: This monastery of the 17th century will bring peace to your mind. This place has great collection of Buddhist sculptures and paintings including the statue of Guru Rinpoche.


  • Darap village: This picturesque town is only 8 km away from the town of Pelling. It is a tourist attraction because of its cuisine, helpful homestays and hiking along with the serene beauty of nature.


  • Kanchenjunga falls: On the road of Yuksom you will find the Kanchenjunga falls. The entry fees is only Rs.20.


  • Khecheopalri lake: I personally never visited this lake but I have heard that when you want something infront of the lake the lake fulfills your wishes so " ALL THE BEST". The entry fees is only Rs.30.  


  • Rabdentse Ruins: This was a palace(Now is in ruins) where Sikkimese kings used to reign till 1814 A.D.


  • Singshore Bridge: This is Sikkim's highest bridge and the length of the bridge is about 240 metres.It connects two gorges.


  • Skywalk: It is India's first skywalk. The bridge is made of transparent which makes walking on it more exciting and horrifying. 



Lachen:

  • Lachen Monastery: I am sure you will be stunned by the incredible architecture.  


  • Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary: It has about 40 species of Rhododendron plants. It is located in the Yumthang Valley.



  • Gurudongmar lake: It is a sacred lake for the Tibetans and it has an altitude of 18000 ft(approx). caution: It is freezing cold there(So take necessary measures).



  • Thangu Valley: It is about 30 km from Lachen at an altitude of 13000 ft.



  • Tso Lhamo Lake: It is at a height of 16700 ft and is one of the highest lakes of the world.


Other places are Chopta Valley, Lhonak Valley and Green Lake etc.



Lachung:

  • Yumthang:It is a sanctuary with rivers, hot springs and also it has pasture lands for yaks etc.


  • Mount Katao:It is a little away from lachung but the serene beauty will make your day.
